- — Luca to Byron[1]
Luca is a recurring character on Jane the Virgin. He is portrayed by Brian Dare.
Character[]
Luca is a waiter at The Marbella and he is friends with Frankie, Jane and Lina. Luca is one of Jane's best friends and attended Frankie's birthday party in Chapter Seven. Luca is not seen a lot on the show around Jane, but when they he is there, he's usually a good friend, listens to Jane's problems and offers both advice and humorous comfort.[2]
Arc[]
Luca, Jane, Lina and Frankie are shown to be a tight little work-unit of friends, having fun on the job and going out together, notably to Frankie's birthday and the girls at Jane's 21st birthday.[3] This makes it likely that Luca is the newest addition to the group. When Rafael fires Frankie in Chapter Ten, Lina and Luca empathise with Frankie and Jane is frozen out a bit.
Although, in Chapter Fifteen, Jane and Luca talk about Rafael's proposal to Jane indicating that they have made up and are back to being good friends. Luca's latest appearance is in Chapter Thirty-One, where he is invited to dinner at the Villanueva house, apparently due to being gay, to aid Rogelio in showing his mother that he is okay with his father's coming out. Luca, and Alba's friend, Byron (who is also gay), leave the dinner early, seemingly feeling somewhat offended and flabbergasted by the evening.
Trivia[]
- He and Jane have a bit of a cooling period after Frankie is fired.
