You told me you always feel like you're in second place with that guy. To Jane. You deserve better than that. You'd be my first choice

You're going to say that you're just 'best friends', but that's not it! She looks at you, like... like that's not it
— Petra to Rafael
PetraThis is why I didn't want to get back together with you. I was past this! I don't want to be worried about you and Jane!
The Narrator – And friends, at this moment, all Petra wanted was for Rafael to say, 'no'; to choose her. And to keep choosing her
Rafael – Remember all those reasons you said we shouldn't date? You were right — we bring out the worst in each other
Jane – No. No, I was wrong, remember?
―About Petra and Rafael
Petra freaked out because she thinks that you still have feelings for me. And that, if I knew that, I'd choose you
— Rafael to Jane
Maybe he's your destiny
— Xo to Jane, about Rafael
Jane – I don't believe in destiny
The Narrator – She will before the night is over
―Paper cranes

Trivia[]

  • Xo and Ro marry!!!
  • This is the last appearance of Joseph Sanders as Mateo.
  • This is the first mention and appearance of Adam.
  • Jane starts believing in destiny and fate again.
  • Jane and Rafael dance at the wedding, and Jane's heart glows and the lights in The Marbella come back on.
  • Darci returns and is 7 months pregnant with hers and Rogelio's daughter.
  • Both Anežka and Luisa get released from prison; Luisa because she's giving testimony against Rose.
  • Rafael and Luisa's relationship is ruined; Rafael says she is 'probably crazy like her mother' which is a horrible thing to say and also untrue. Luisa's mother wasn't crazy, she fled from Emilio's shady dealings with Mutter.
    • Anežka gives Luisa the addendum and Luisa takes everything Rafael owns away.
  • This season finishes with one of the Villanueva's wedding, just like the Season 2 finale.
PARALLELS
  • Jane and Rafael riding the bus together and Rafael being new to public transport.
  • Rogelio's reaction to hearing Darci is pregnant kind of mirrors Rafael's when he found out that Petra was, before Rafael learned that he was the father.[1]
CALLBACKS
  • Una Flor by Juanes plays as Rogelio and Xo, Alba and Jorge dance at the wedding. It was used prominently throughout the Pilot and the early episodes of Season 1.

'Secrets'[]

  • Michael wrote Jane a letter he never told her about, just before their wedding in 2016, which she gets to read in 2020.
  • The real Eileen (not Sin Rostro) murdered Scott.
  • The Narrator mentions that Petra did know that the police would arrest Anezka when she landed as Petra set it up. But that doesn't track with how nervous she was about Anezka not arriving at the hotel and then later threatening to reveal Petra's secrets, which also scared Petra.
