Chapter Eighty-Three is the 2nd episode of Season 5 of Jane the Virgin.
Synopsis[]
FEELING GUILTY – With Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) Catholic guilt starting to settle in, she turns to Alba (Ivonne Coll) for advice and gets an unexpected answer. Luisa (guest star Yara Martinez) decides to go see Rose (guest star Bridget Regan) with Rafael (Justin Baldoni) by her side, in order to help get answers. Meanwhile, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is back to work with River (guest star Brooke Shields), but a power struggle ensues between the two and Xo (Andrea Navedo) might be the solution they have been looking for.

- A running theme this episode is sense of guilt.
- PARALLELS
- When Jane and Jason dance, he twirls her in the same way Rafael did at Roman Zazo's memorial. The difference here is that Jason kisses Jane, who immediately rejects him and gets mad at him because she is with Rafael and is also very uncomfortable compared to the when she danced with Rafael.
'Secrets'[]
- Rose reveals she abducted Michael, gave him amnesia and faked his death in order to protect her cover as Eileen, as she had a happenstance run-in with Michael where her mask was slightly visible and that the only reason she didn't kill him was because Luisa had made Rose promise not to murder any more.
- Jason lies about his dog Bo eating his and Jane's divorce papers.
