Brooke Christa Brooks also known as Brooke Shields was born on May 31,1965 in Manhattan, New York City. The daughter of actress and model Teri Shields (neé Schmon;1933-2012) and businessman Frank Shields (1941-2003). Her mother was of English, German, Scotch-Irish and Welsh descent. Her father was of English, French, Irish and Italian ancestry.
Shields began her career as a model when she was 11 months old in 1966. Her first job was for Ivory Soap, when she was shot by Francesco Scavullo. She continued as a child model with model agent Eileen Ford, who in her Lifetime Network biography, stated that she started her children's division just for Shields. In 1980, the 14-year old Shields was the youngest fashion model ever appeared on Vogue. By the age 16, Shields had become one of most recognizable faces in the United States, because due to her dual career as a fashion model and actress. In 1983, Shields appeared on September edition of Paris Vogue, October and November of American Vogue and on the December edition of Italian Vogue.
Shields first major role in film role as a lead actress was on Pretty Baby in 1978 in which she played as Violet who lived in a brothel (in which there are numerous nude scenes). She was only 12 years old when the film released, and in the controversy for child pornography arose.
She appeared on several episodes of The 70's Show. She is in the main role and a producer on NBC sitcom, Suddenly Susan from 1996-2000. She currently a recurring guest appearances on Jane the Virgin.
She married American tennis player Andre Agassi from 1997 until they divorced on 1999. She currently married to American screenwriter and producer, Chris Henchy. They got married on April 4,2001. He and Shields have 2 children, named Rowan Frances (born May 15,2003) and Grier Hammond (born April 18,2006).
